UT Interview

Standard

Look what showed up in my inbox last week!

image

I was thrilled! I forwarded the email to everyone who has been supporting me.  I set up an interview for this Friday. I took the day off to clear my head and focus on the major goal of the day – rockin’ that interview.

In order to prep, I reached out to two of my coworkers that were accepted into the university in the fall.  I asked if they would mind me picking their brain a bit about the interview and getting their perspective on it.  Both gentlemen were very gracious and agreed meet (enticing them with free coffee / lunch Winking smile).

In addition, my friend Jeremy said he would gladly do a mock interview, to help me prep, which everyone has recommended me do.  I think that’ll be a great way to practice my answers and create a solid image of who I am, during this hour long interview.  I’ve also been sent a bunch of typical interview questions asked by b-schools.  Reviewing these and thinking about answers, again, will be a great way to create my image.

Super excited, guys! Sitting here typing this, I have a huge smile plastered across my face.  It’s just so exciting to think this is all hopefully getting ready to fall into place. =)

This blog got started a bit after the new year, and I have definitely made some progress towards the year’s goals.  Instead of making 25 unnecessary posts about how far along I have come, I figured I would just get readers up to speed on what I’ve done so far.  (also, I promise not to bore you with clipart and solely writing for much longer)

1) Save $5,000 by June

– January 2013: Created a budget plan for saving this amount by end of June
– January 2013: Started a Sallie Mae savings account (my other savings account was charging me $5/mo to have an account with them and Sallie Mae is giving me 1.05% interest per year, with no minimum balance)
– January 2013: Started 401K

2) Go to Iceland

– January 2013: Bought the airline tickets
– February 2013: Got a hotel room in New York for the 24 hour layover

3) Apply to Business School

– January 2013: Took my GMAT (will need to take again)
– January 2013: Getting involved in some extracurricular activities (can’t hurt the resume)
– January 2013: Boyfriend’s mom told me TSU has a campus in Austin, with an MBA program

4) Weigh 123 Pounds

– January 2013: Tried Lemonade Diet (that’s a good way to get yourself binge eating all weekend)
– February 2013: Started running again, with a feasible schedule
– February 2013: Started hot yoga at Sunstone Yoga

5) Visit Another State in the U.S.

– January 2013: Bought airline tickets to Seattle
– January 2013: Got place to stay in Seattle
– February 2013: Got tickets to go whale watching in Seattle

6) Address Issues Better

7) Knock 10 Things Off “The List”

– January 2013: Jester King Brewery Tour
– January 2013: Bike Ride Pub Crawl

8) Read More Often

– February 2013: Doing initial research on purchasing a Kindle (the plane tickets are running me dry)

9) Be More Fashion Conscientious

– January 2013: Bought a new blazer

10) Find 3 Charities to Donate to Monthly

– January 2013: Have charities picked out and on a recurring monthly billing plan (Save the Children, International Outreach, and ASPCA – not because of the commercials, I swear! I saw they shut down a puppy mill and hadn’t read about anyone else doing that, so I went for them)

11) Do More Crafts

– February 2013: May sound like a stretch, but I definitely think this blog is a craft (or at least what I wanted to accomplish with a craft)

12) Buy Local More Often

– January 2013: Made my first purchase on Greenling.com

13) Eat Out Less Often
