A girl in my company asked if we would like to do a marathon relay with her. I had no idea what it was, but jumped at the thought of having an end goal for training (since clearly I have not been able to motivate myself). The marathon relay is called the Car2Go Marathon Relay. It will be in September. My co-worker, Lindsey, and I will be running the 10K portion. That sounds like the perfect amount of running to me. Anymore than 10 miles, I have realized, is not even enjoyable for me.
Hopefully, this will be the exact motivation I need to get my butt on that treadmill. I have to say, the work-life balance hasn’t really been there. I have been so exhausted in the morning, I just haven’t been able to get out of bed. And it gets too dark too early to run the trail in the evening. I pulled 2 14-hour days last week. It’s frustrating, because I am in corporate accounting and not auditing, so that I don’t have to work those kinds of crazy hours. It’s definitely made me question whether I should stay where I am or look elsewhere, for something with more of a balance. We’ll see what happens, but I am hoping that the workload lightens up a bit.
In the meanwhile, marathon relay training is underway!
