In my last year in college, I decided I needed to be more positive.  I was in school full time and working full time.  I was exhausted, and I couldn’t focus on anything that made me happy.  To turn that around, I decided to write down every time something good happened.  On Saturday, I would donate $5 to a charity, for every good thing that happened that week.  Not only was I reminding myself what made me happy, but I also was helping others and donating to charities I supported.  

That didn’t last though.  Moving and finding a job cancelled out my donations.  I missed feeling good about the donations though.  I liked contributing to things I cared about.  I decided I wanted to go back to doing it, but I would make it more focused.  Instead of donating to random charities here and there, I wanted to be a consistent donor, so I could track the progress of the charity and know my role in it was helping.

I have picked 3 charities.  I will create a post about them, explaining why they were chosen.  I started donating last month, and I am already on month two.  I feel good about it.  The goal is only partially accomplished though.  Need to keep it up through 2013.
